Fajr Int’l Film Festival to screen films next week

The 41st Fajr Int'l Film Festival is to kick off next week.

The 41st Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) is to kick off next week.

According to Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Mahdi Esmaili, the jury of the upcoming Fajr International Film Festival finished their work and the films would be screened next week.

On the sidelines of the cabinet session on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, Esmaili told reporters that the director of the festival would release the timetable of the films to be screened.

The 41st Fajr International Film festival will follow the prestigious theater festival which is currently running in Iran.

The event is hosting 40 plays in the national competition, and 23 foreign troupes from Brazil, Russia, Oman, Spain, Iraq, Armenia, Tunisia, and Jordan will give performances in the international competition.

This year, the domestic and international versions of the Fajr film festival will be once again held as part of one event titled “Fajr International Film Festival” after five editions of separate versions.

The Fajr festival coincides with the Ten-Day Fajr ceremonies across Iran, marking the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Since its establishment in 1982, the festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

The event has screened many preserved classics from Iran cinema in previous runs of the international film event annually held in Iran.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.

The 41st edition of the FIFF will take place on February 1-10, 2023.
